It’s Lunch Time…

Yup.  It’s Sunday, been working on some websites since 6am, and now it is time to eat.  So, I’m off to Red Robin.  They pack the best damn Gardenburger in the world.  Why?

Well, first it is a Gardenburger.  The brand, I mean.  I’m not a favorite of soy burgers at all, cause if I wanted to eat something that looked and had the texture of meat…I would just eat meat.  But, Gardenburger is so good cause it is packed with yummy grains and protein and all sorts of tasty things without wanting to be meat when it grows up.  So, I am including a picture of my yummy concoction cause it is one that has to be seen to be believed.  For those who don’t know, or don’t have a Red Robin…I will tell you exactly what is in there from top to bottom.

  1. Bun – Traditional sesame bun that is!
  2. BBQ sauce – Why?  Cause I can, that’s why.
  3. Onion Straws – Actually, I ask for these to be on the bottom or else they would slide right off due to the next ingredient.
  4. Sauteed Mushrooms – Yummmm.  I love fungi.
  5. Lettuce – Just getting something green in there for good measure
  6. Pickles – A little twang is a good thing
  7. Other Bun – Why?  Cause I would make a mess otherwise.

Okay.  I’m off.  I just had to share this with everyone.  Yummmm, Yummm!

Where to eat lunch in Downtown LA.

McCormick & Schmicks, without a doubt.  I have always loved this restaurant, even when I used to eat fish…and since becoming a veggie they are one of the few restaurants that I can try almost anything on menu with little effort.  On top of that, my favorite waitress is there : Norma.  What a sweetheart.  She knows me by now (eat there enough) and is always helpful with trying new things without meat or just bringing me my favorite – Spicy Seafood Stir Fry without the…you know!mccormick_logo

The bread is always fresh and yummy, and sometimes I find a equally perfect soup to pair with it.  Expensive you might say?  Perhaps.  Be prepared to drop at least $30, but the meal is unequalled and I would pay twice that amount for it.  Trust me.  It’s that good and ask for a Phone Booth.  They are the coolest little rooms, that seat 2-6 people (some are larger than others) and they used to have cool old fashioned princess phones in them.  They took them out, but the atmosphere is still wonderful!

Bon Appetite.

Go Go Jamba…

My new favorite, and terribly healthy breakfast, is Jamba Juice’s Steel Cut Oats.  Okay, I had to laugh when Starbucks first unveiled their oatmeal (notice I am using lowercase).  I thought it deserved a chuckle that I would pay them over $2 for a package of oatmeal, when I could get a whole box of the same stuff at the market for a little more (unless there was a sale going on).  So, I had a coupon to try it for free….and that was the last time I have ever eaten it.

Enter Jamba Juice.  Whoa!  This stuff is good.  If you ever try to cook Steel Cut Oats, providing you are not hungry and have 30+ minutes to devote to it, you know that they are the best tasting but take way too long to cook.  So, I run by my local JJ before heading to work and they do all of the work for me.  Plus the fruit they put on top is SOOOOO good.  Thumbs up!  Toes up!!  Can you tell I love it?

Anyway, head out to your local Jamba Juice  and try it.  Oh, and it is made with Soymilk which gets a heads up from me.  No dairy.  Even better! Moo!

Smoked Gouda, where are you?

Okay, so this is more of a plea than a post about what I am eating today.  I am in search of non-animal rennet smoked gouda.  For the love all of all things it just has to be out there!!!  I found some wonderful companies on the internet, that make gouda at their lovely farm on the east coast, but I don’t want to have to buy a few pounds of cheese and then have it shipped to me in California just to satisfy my whim.  Well, I have thought about it but there has to be another way.  HELP!!
