It’s cooking time again.

So, for those who don’t know I run a graphic & website design business from my home….while I was still working in technology management for a law firm.  Well, 3 weeks ago I resigned vegetarian_timesfrom my “day” job so that design could take its place.  Very cool.  Very scary.  Very exciting.  What does this mean for me?  Well, more time for my design which I am excited about and super dooper time to go back to cooking and exploring all kinds of vegetarian yummy meals.  I am so thrilled about that, and I dusted off all of my Vegetarian Times magazines (some dating back to 2004 or earlier).  I am sifting through trying to make a book of my fav recipes so I can start cooking again.  Yay.  Maybe I will take pics for ya’ll to see.  Stay tuned….

It’s Lunch Time…

Yup.  It’s Sunday, been working on some websites since 6am, and now it is time to eat.  So, I’m off to Red Robin.  They pack the best damn Gardenburger in the world.  Why?

Well, first it is a Gardenburger.  The brand, I mean.  I’m not a favorite of soy burgers at all, cause if I wanted to eat something that looked and had the texture of meat…I would just eat meat.  But, Gardenburger is so good cause it is packed with yummy grains and protein and all sorts of tasty things without wanting to be meat when it grows up.  So, I am including a picture of my yummy concoction cause it is one that has to be seen to be believed.  For those who don’t know, or don’t have a Red Robin…I will tell you exactly what is in there from top to bottom.

  1. Bun – Traditional sesame bun that is!
  2. BBQ sauce – Why?  Cause I can, that’s why.
  3. Onion Straws – Actually, I ask for these to be on the bottom or else they would slide right off due to the next ingredient.
  4. Sauteed Mushrooms – Yummmm.  I love fungi.
  5. Lettuce – Just getting something green in there for good measure
  6. Pickles – A little twang is a good thing
  7. Other Bun – Why?  Cause I would make a mess otherwise.

Okay.  I’m off.  I just had to share this with everyone.  Yummmm, Yummm!

It’s been a long time…

I’ve been working with some clients recently, on adjusting their free WordPress blogs, and remembered “Hello…I have a WP blog that I never use”.  So, here I am…writing again. No new food news, other than a previous client just shared with me her cheese making business.  Now, me – lover of cheese- was jazzed to find out that she is using microbial rennet in her product.  I couldn’t be more thrilled, and want to share this with everyone….all three of you that happen to read my blog.

Okay, it’s a newbie…and I am just getting started, but just wait YOU WILL ALL BE KNOCKING DOWN MY VEGETARIAN DOOR SOON.  Anyway, check out Claudia’s shop on Etsy www.urbancheesecraft.etsy.com and her own WP blog www.urbancheesecraft.wordpress.com .  This is  so cool.

Why oh why Claim Jumper….

So,  I went last night to my favorite restaurant – Claim Jumper.  I fell in love with their pretzel, baked sweet potato, and vegetable soup w/ rice.  It was wonderful, chock full of veggies and basmati rice…and totally vegetarian.  A bowl of that could take care of you for the rest of the day.  So, please someone tell me WHY they removed it from the menu??!!?? 

 Now we are left with creamy/cheesy soups, which are vegetarian if you eat CHEESE, but heavy in the fat.  Or of course the meat laden stews & chilis.  I was heartbroken, to say the least.  I notice that even Friday’s removed their portabello sandwhich…which was great…and left us without many veggie alternatives.  Geesh, and I thought I lived in California…land of the healthy!!!
